The Shaker Lakes Runners is the Nature Center's free running group led by the Center's own Boston Marathoner. The runner's club meets three times weekly and is designed to take participants 18 years old and over on the running trails through the Shaker Parklands where they are introduced to a variety of plant and animal life along the way. Not only can adults receive experiences in nature, but they are also able to run as part of a group, instead of alone. Runs are between two and five miles.
The club began in May of 2006 with the goal to attract adults interested in all levels of running, as part the Center's ongoing effort to connect people with nature. In its inaugural season approximately 50 runners ran as part of the club. The season concluded in October 2006 with a five-mile Fun Run at the annual Hike, Bike and Run for the Jenny Fund.
