Leave No Child Inside this Summer:
Nature Center at Shaker Lakes Offers New Outdoor Adventure Camp Programs for 2007
Registration Begins Today for Nature Center's Summer Outdoor Adventure Camps
CLEVELAND (Feb. 19) The Nature Center at Shaker Lakes offers new and exciting options for its 2007 Summer Outdoor Adventure Camps. New themes and overnight camps are just a few of the innovative programs offered so that no child will be left inside this summer.
The Nature Center's Outdoor Adventure Camps allow groups of 12 campers to gain knowledge of the environment and encounter the six natural habitats of the Shaker parklands. Each group is led by an experienced naturalist and volunteer. Children between the ages of 2 ½ years old and 12 years old are invited to join in this summer for an unforgettable camp experience. Camps begin June 18 and extend through Aug. 17.
Highlights of the 2007 Summer Outdoor Adventure Camps include:
- Full-day camps for campers 6 years old and older
- Extended Care for campers 6 years old and older
- Weeklong camps for children age 3 ½ years old and older
- Overnight camps for 11 and 12 year old campers
- New themes and activities for all ages
"Outdoor Adventure Camps are a fantastic way to allow children to experience the environment and interact with our knowledgeable team of naturalists," said Denise Natoli Brooks, naturalist and Outdoor Adventure Camp coordinator. "Our engaging programs not only allow campers to discover the variety of wildlife and plant species living in the parklands, but they allow children to better understand the environment and use what they've learned to become junior environmental advocates."
Fees for Outdoor Adventure Camps vary based on the camper's age and what program he or she is enrolled in. For fee information or to register, call (216) 321-5935 or visit www.ShakerLakes.org. Space is limited. Extended Care for 6 to 12 year olds is also available for most camps at an additional fee of $5 per hour.
The Nature Center at Shaker Lakes conserves a natural area, connects people with nature and inspires environmental stewardship. For additional information on the Nature Center's programs, services, offerings or events, call (216) 321-5935 or visit www.ShakerLakes.org.
