Summer Heats Up at the Nature
Center with Music and
Family Fun

the Nature Center for Summer Family-Friendly Events
CLEVELAND (July 11) – The Nature
Center at Shaker Lakes
announces Music by the Brook: Coles Whalen in Concert and Family Fun in the Forest,
two outdoor, family-friendly celebrations.
Music by the Brook: Coles
Whalen in Concert will transform the Nature
Center parking lot into an
amphitheatre in the woods on Sunday, July 29, from 5 to 7 p.m. At
Music by the Brook, families are invited to bring blankets, chairs and a picnic
and enjoy musical performances by Coles Whalen and Nicole Torres. Guests can
also purchase food from local vendors. Admission to this event is free and all
are welcome.
Singer and songwriter Coles
Whalen has played venues throughout the United
States and has sold more than 7,000 CDs. In
March 2007, Whalen's third album was released. "[Her] enchanting voice is
soulful, powerful and straight from the heart," wrote Monica Younge, Indie
Music Reviews. Music by the Brook will introduce Northeast Ohio
to the unique folk style of this talented artist.
Guests are encouraged to hike
and bike to the event and parking is located along South Park Blvd.
Reservations will not be taken for this event and seating is on a first-come,
first-served basis.
Join the Nature
Center again in August for its
annual Family Fun in the Forest. This free event will be
held Thursday, August 16, from 5 to 8 p.m. Guests can enjoy hot dogs, veggie dogs
and marshmallows by the fire-pit. A variety of engaging activities will also be
available for children throughout the evening. Family Fun in the Forest
allows both children and adults to explore the Shaker Lakes Parklands and learn
more about their local environment. Groups larger than 10 people are encouraged
to register for this event.
