Build-a-Mason Bee House  Workshop
Saturday, March 4, 10 am to noon

Mason bees are small docile bees that are important early season pollinators for fruit trees and other spring flowering plants. Get your garden started right and help declining native bee populations by making a 4"x 4" house for mason and other cavity-nesting bees. We cut the lumber, you put it together! A fun family activity and lesson in conservation. $25 for the first mason bee house and $20 for additional houses. Please register by February 21.

Doan Brook Annual Stream Sweep & Weed Pull
Saturday, April 22, 1 to 3 pm and
Sunday, April 23, 1 to 3 pm

Celebrate Earth Day with Doan Brook Watershed Partnership and the Nature Center. Help clean up the winter accumulation of trash and pull invasive plants in the Doan Brook corridor. Volunteer as an individual or a group – all ages welcome! On Saturday, meet at the Nature Center or the tent at Fairhill Road and E. 127th. On Sunday, meet at Rockefeller Park and work on the lower watershed. Visit www.doanbrookpartnership.org to register or call (216) 325-7781. Free. Owl Prowl at Lake View Cemetery
Friday, April 28, 8 pm

Enjoy a live owl presentation by Jeff Riebe from the Cleveland Metroparks. After, join Nature Center environmental educators for an adventurous owl prowl to look and listen for nesting Barred, Great Horned and Screech Owls. DIY Rain Barrel Workshop
Two Dates Offered:
Tuesday, May 16, 6:30 to 8 pm
at Cleveland Heights Community Center OR Thursday, May 18, 6:30 to 8 pm
at Nature Center at Shaker Lakes

Learn how to construct a closed, 55-gallon rain barrel system that can easily be attached to any standard downspout to collect and conserve rain water for your plants and yard. Space is limited and advance registration is required by May 5. In cooperation with the Doan Brook Watershed Partnership.
