Make a revolution out of your resolutions by signing up to be a part of our Wintergreen Challenge. What better way to really make a difference in the new year by improving your ecological footprint and your household savings while learning more environmentally sustainable household practices in a fun and interactive way.  The Wintergreen Challenge is an individual, group or family oriented three month-long friendly competition opportunity to help you live more sustainably.

Categories for the challenge include self improvement, activities, home improvement, community, and education. Participants will be encouraged to explore the outdoors, go sledding or hiking, create an in-home recycling system, or simply install energy efficient light bulbs throughout your home. At the kickoff, you can learn how to implement and maintain sustainable practices such as recycling, composting, rain barrel use, native planting and permaculture. You will be able to evaluate where you are in the reduction of your ecological footprint at the kick-off and conclusion. Each registrant, whether an individual, group or family, will be registered as a team and given a chart to keep track of their sustainable activities and are encouraged to keep a photo journal of their successes. Teams are encouraged to come by the Nature Center to document your challenge successes. There will be a big chart documenting all the teams' successes in the Nature Center's exhibit area. As you complete different challenges, you'll be entered into raffles for great prizes.

The kickoff event for the challenge will be an open house on Friday, January 15th from 6-8 pm and will include games, instructional activities, resources for the challenge, and snacks. At the end of the challenge on April 24th, all of the participants will be invited back to the Nature Center for a celebration of their accomplishments. Participation fee is $10 per team.
